Welcome To Genetic Sexual Attraction
WELCOME TO GENETIC SEXUAL ATTRACTIONupdated information march 30 2011 Barbara Gonyo This website was started with the hope of education and support on a subject that to most is: 1. misunderstood 2. shocking 3. to some unbelievable 4.taboo to society. The website is meant to help those who are victims of separation and reunion of blood family members and who are unable to understand what they are feeling. We are here to educate through others experience and to help you understand what GSA is or is not. Communication with each other, to share as a support system what you are experiencing can be very helpful. This is the reason I continue the GSA site. However, GSA is
GSA needs their own place to help and support others as they support each other. It is difficult to get through feelings of abandonment, loss and reunions. So PLEASE do not post any other topics than "Reunited people, through adoption or divorce, separation or loss of contact with a blood relative. All others need to go elsewhere to find what you are looking for because this is not your category. I hope to be accepted here as well. I am gay and my brother and I are shunned not only for being homosexual, but also for having a relationship with each other. Our parents had a fit when we told them about our sexual orientations and our relationship and kicked us out. We're living with a relative now. I do truly love my brother. We hate being away from our parents, but we can't help but be joyful being around each other. We've had so much more sex. It's wonderful :)

Hi everyone,
I am a psychologist who is trying to find out as much as possible about GSA. Unfortunately I discovered that there isn't enough knowledge in the world about GSA. I am happy to find this website and I hope it will be helpfull to broaden my knowledge and understanding. |
hi everyone im new i m glad to have found such a site as this one
|
At last, I finally found people like my brother and me. To make a long story short, most of us were given up for adoption but we found each other 30 years ago. My brother and I had a furiously strong attraction to each other and we still do to this day. And yes, we have acted upon it many times. We have talked about "running away" just so we could be ourselves and nobody would know. BTW, he is 62 and I am 59 and we still are crazy about each other...good thing we don't live in the same town or we would have been caught by now.
|
Lovehim, yours is a nice story. You sound like you have made it work in the same way as my sister and I have. We are in our forties now and back together again. I think its best you are not in the same town though. As you say, you could be caught out. Keep things as they are.
You actually sound happy! |
I am searching for someone to talk too. I am 37 yrs old and was adopted. I recently found my family in Nov 2008. Turns out I have 3 brothers and I am the only girl. I have met all my brothers but have a strong connection to one. We have talked about GSA because we both feel a strong connection. I recently went out of town with him and another one of my brothers. We did not sleep together but he tried. He lives in another state and I am miserable without him. I have searched for books or anything that can help me get some answers. If anyone can please help me with advice or just make me understand why we are feeling the way we are and what should we do about it, it would help alot.
|
I certainly understand. I am 31 myself but since I was 19 my half brother and I have been sexually imtimate and living together. I met him when i was 17 and he was 23, he had a steady long term girlfriend who didn't mind the close bond he and I shared. My brother and I knew it was deeper then just what people saw on the surface. When they brokeup, not because of me; it just sort of seemed natural that we be together. It was fustrating at first because you do not have the same freedoms most "socially accepted" couples have. We struggled to find private time, we did a lot of hiding and sneaking around even though we were both old enough and mentally capable of making our own choices. I sometimes think the family suspected, but he would date other women. When he would do that I would become extremely jealous which was weird to me to understand because he was the only person I have ever felt that way over. Even now after 12 years and the little songs and dances we put on for the world when he dates or has a girlfriend, it is extremely uncomfortable for me. I experience all the anxiety, pain, and suffering of someone being cheated upon. I'd try to date other guys but I couldn't. I couldn't be intimate with them not like I could be with my halfbrother. It felt like I was cheating on him. Currently we live together, but I feel our time is drawing to a close soon because I want him and all his glory to be mine sololy but he wants a family of his own, kids, the whole wife experience. This pains me because by all respects I am his wife. I am tortured, but I understand his dilemma. He is now 38, it is weighting on our relationship heavily because he is reaching the point of no return he says. He says in the next life we will be husband and wife, have a family, and truly be happy. I use to cling to that dream but now I believe I am just doomed to love someone I cannot truly have. Not just love him with my heart, but soul, mind and body. I caution anyone, but I do not regret the heartaches and trials we have had.
If anyone has advice on how to deal with hostile and jealously issues or has experienced it in this regard please I am all eyes and ears. I feel my only escape is the obvious one leave and no contact...that would be just about the death of me. |
UK documentary looking for couples who found out they were related after starting a relationship.
Hello all Barbara has cleared me to post on here in the hope that someone will be willing to tell me their story. I am making a documentary for the BBC looking at people who meet and have a relationship, then find out they are related. A growing number of children born in the UK never know their fathers and therefore never know if they have half siblings out there. Although rare there have been cases where these half siblings meet, fall in love and embark on a relationship only to find out later on, while researching their family, that they are indeed half siblings. I want to speak to people who have found themselves in this situation and have had to make the decision about whether or not to continue with their relationship. I’m not sure if this scenario could be classed as GSA as the couples I am looking for fall for each other before knowing they are related but I don’t know of any other website offering such support or intelligent advice as this one so I guess anyone in any situation such as this would come here. All contact with me will be treated in the utmost confidence. I can be contacted on my mobile 07815731179 or emailed on [email protected] I look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance. Kind regards Sarah Rest |
Great site.
Hi..my name is Alice (24 F) and I am so happy to come across this site. I finished school at 18 and got a fantastic job out of state. 3 years ago my mom showed up and has been here ever since. It has been a great 3 years. My friends and aquaintances know us only as Louise and Alice. It's nice to hear from other people who are in similiar life situations.

I thought there was already a documentary that I saw on BBC America about this. Is this by the same person as a follow-up?

Hi there,
My name is Nicole, I'm an Australian journalist and film maker working for Al Gore's news network Current TV. I've been commissioned to do a short documentary about GSA relationships to be delivered in mid-october. I've been speaking with Barbara Gonyo, who has helped me, which I am very grateful for, and also Jennifer and John Deaves who will be in the documentary. It will air in the US and the UK on cable and will be available online. I am hoping to get a few other couples in GSA relationships to talk about their relationships, experiences and difficulties in order to give further insight and understanding into GSA relationships. To promote understanding and education about GSA. If you are interested please do not hesitate to contact me. I would love to speak with you and discuss further. Please email me at [email protected] or call on +61423 917 704. Thanks for your time, all correspondence will be treated with confidentiality. I think this is an important story to tell, I hope you can help me tell it. Look forward to speaking with you and thank you again, Nicole |
When possible, please let us know the details of when and how this documentary may be seen. Thank you.
|
Hi Satan's Sister,
The documentary should be available online in Australia and also on a cable channel in the US and UK. I will keep you updated as to when it will air and how you can watch it. Please do contact me if you are interested in being involved. Thanks for your help, Nicole |
My name is Paul, I'm new to the site but have known about this site for some time and have been lurking. It's almost 20 years since my reunion and the meeting with my sister who I fell in love with. I'll chat about this experience more later. My marriage has survived ....believe it or not, but it took a lot of love and understanding, patience and counseling, and a lot of soul searching. because in the end for me, this is about a journey searching for myself...my identity. GSA and all its joy and pain and ecstasy and and and.....can be life destroying and marriage destroying. I'm not sure why my marriage survived but it did. I'm not sure how I survived....but I did. I never thought I'd ever get through my pain and live any kind of normal life again after I was in the full throws of GSA. i have learned to laugh again and have fun! It took years to slowly move forward from that trapped spot where I felt like I was drowning in it all. I still love my sister...but we don't speak or communicate. It seems OK this way for now. The future ....who knows. But I believe we need to redefine our relationship to make it one with boundaries and learn to love each other as a sister and brother can. I still believe we are soul mates! Perhaps the future can be this way. In the mean time I'm living life with vigor!

I am sooo happy to have found this site! I stumbled across it when I was searching madly for a "pro-incest support group". You know, maybe something like Incest Anonymous so I could go and share things and learn from others.. no such luck so far. :'( But, I did find GSA which made me very excited to say the least. I don't know who or where the creators are but I am thanking them with every fiber of my being right now! :D

hello
I saw your post (1st one I assume) & read it. I'm hoping by you saying "pro incest group", your heart was in the right place. We who have experienced GSA, whether or not it resulted in intimacy, do not regard the actions as incest. When incest is mentioned, society (even us with GSA) get a clear mental picture. That's not what we, or this site, is about, in any shape form or fashion. In fact, we feel GSA isn't incest (except for the legal definition). There's multiple reasons for this. We feel that taking advantage of anyone by using measures associated with incest is abhorrent. Using force, manipulation, & authority is, & should be a horrible crime. If you read our posts, you understand we are dealing with reunions of lost family members that we didn't grow up with, nor developed the traditional family ties that normally govern behavior that takes years to develop. So, hopefully, you don't expect us to be "pro incest". As I said, I hope this wasn't what you meant.--cedarfprest

Yeah it was my first post.. it's interesting you mention the thing about the word incest because as I was just telling my father last weekend, when I hear it I assume it's consensual. I have no idea why, but I do. I feel incest is one completely seperate thing from others like rape or abuse and in my head they just don't mesh. I will, however, keep in mind that my thoughts aren't shared by everyone else and refrain from using it here. :)

My response wasn't to stifle free speech, you should say whatever you feel is appropriate for you (tactfully please). I just wanted you to know the mind-set of our group (in general). I dare say none of the members view themselves, or this site as a "pro incest". While I struggled with GSA with a reunited half-sister, another half-sister was molested by an uncle. I wanted to strangle him, when I found out. He preformed the same "act" as I did with my h/s, so what was the difference? I didn't know my h/s, as a sister, the bonding process overwhelmed us & we were swept away before we knew it, & it very very mutual. The uncle plotted & schemed to find my other h/s when she was without protection, & used his stature (he was babysitting her younger siblings), to force himself on her. When incest is brought up, usually the latter senerio is pretty much in line with what people think of. We are NOT LIKE THAT. FYI, & Thanks for your attitude.--cedarforest

I understand, I just never heard of the term GSA before so "incest love" is all I ever thought of it as. Also, as this site came up under the Google search for "pro-incest support group" I thought it was a generally accepted term to use. Sorry bout that; probably should have asked first being new and everything and it being such a delicate subject. When I found this site and showed it to my daddy we both were like "genetic sexual attraction.. that's genius! What a very good phraseing for consensual incest without the stigma the word 'incest' might instill in people!" .. anyway, thanks. I greatly appreciate being able to speak about this topic freely, and it's very nice to know people here are so nice about newcomers like me. You COULD have attacked me and raged on about how wrong I was but you didn't. That makes me respect this site all the more. It really is a wonderful resource and I am absolutely giddy about starting here as a member.
|
I sensed you meant no harm, you seem very nice. I wish you the best & hope you find the satisfaction I found on this site. There's no doubt, that I'm totally different after learning about GSA. If you get a chance, read My Story, posted by me in early June. Just like you, finding a persons initial post will usually tell you allot about their circumstances.
Another thing to keep in mind too, many, possibly even a majority, of the people who post regularly haven't engaged in a consumated relationship. Sometimes the GSA isn't shared by both, even if it is, many times they are able to refrain for the best interests of themselves or other family members. Others, like mermaid, are innocent victims of GSA that their spouse, child, or other family members are undergoing. But, we all understand each other. We all know this isn't about sexual urges (that would definitely be another site), it's about bonding with those ripped apart from us, but finally reunited. Unfortunately, this process can, & in many cases does, cross the established boundries of a typical healthy sibling relationship. I hope our conversations are helpful.--cedarforest |
They are! I mostly spent my first day before becoming a member sniffing up articles on father/daughter since that is the kind I am affiliated with but reading any of the posts is helpful because the same feelings are there and even if they aren't, or from a different perspective (like Mermaid) than my own it is still quite helpful in understanding GSA as a whole. :)

Good Point
Cap...THis had actually crossed my mind ,
THe name ~Implies~ something that MAY or MAY not be true. We dont ever want to leave ourselves OPEN for attack, and Good on you for Covering our backs... Sent you a PM LiL... Love LoSt SiSter x |
Okay honestly cap, I'm a little disgruntled. WHY couldn't you have asked me to change it in a pm? Why did you assume I am a minor?? If you have read all my posts (which I don't assume you did) you would find I am not underage. Lolita is a very pretty name and I am proud to have it. I do however see how it could be a problem since I opted to put "LiL" in front of it. I didn't really think about it, I just used my screen name from my email account so it would be easy to remember. Sorry if my name offends people. It wasn't my intention at all.
|
Your name
Dearest,
Its easy to assume that you are a minor, because a) as you yourself have identified you Put....... Lil before your name b) You refer to your Father as " Daddy" Usually only Little Girls say that and c) As already explained Lolita is a Character Known for certain behaviours and SHE was a minor.. so its kind of Normal that people would make assumptions... and remember people who come here DONT always read every persons posts they just search for whats relevant to them, or things they want to hear.. so on reading a screen Name Lil Lolita, their mind would be Drawn in a certan direction... Caps name would Make you believe he is a Hat.. and Mine.. well I guess mines pretty clear Im LoSt ! |

I understand. My signature is a favorite song title of mine written by Cole Porter and sung by many famous women including Marilyn Monroe and Ella Fitzgerald, etc. I also made the decision to call my father "daddy" when we first reunited because "dad" didn't feel genuine enough. I had spent a lifetime calling someone else dad so I distinguished the two by simply using a different kind of handle. I type my words how I speak them and yes I admit that can make my responses quite colloquial and loose, such as the word daddy is. On another note, if I were to change my screen name, would it be reflected in all my posts or isn't that an option? Would I have to sign up all over again? I don't feel the need to change it all but I would be willing to drop the lil.

Significant Others
Over the years I have felt that the people not heard from who are also victims of GSA are the significant others who are the families of those who have GSA. I have always wanted to start a support group for them but never was able to take on this part of GSA.
There may not have been enough information about GSA before but now there is available information about GSA but the S O group is not being heard. For anyone willing to put information out there and wants to contact me about this for a possible book with their stories please let me know as I would be willing to work on collecting the information. I need to know if the need is great enough to work on this project. Thank you Barb Gonyo |

I can say that I would find this useful and would be willing to contribute.
