Separated at birth, my brother and I met for the first time, six months ago. We are healthy, active single seniors in our 70's, both with children and grandchildren. From the moment we met, we've been experiencing the indefinable emotions of love, and can barely breathe without the sight, touch, or voice of the other. We are both recently reitred from long-time professional careers, and recognize that the close relationship we share may well be within the described context of GSA, even though we are cautious not to cross the line. Spiritually minded, we belive Divine Grace has united us after all these years—an internet connection—and though judgments of family and friends be fraught with concern. we plan to live together, thereby, protecting and nurturing one another till death separates us once more. Our question is: At our age and position in life, would this be wrong—legally or otherwise? Are there studies of sibling reunions, at our ages, who have successfully continued to grow with joy withouth unbearable consequences, even after this first blush of love, as GSA devines it, has dimmed? We'd be grateful for any response. Thank you.
Hello April
I think it is wonderful that the two have found eachother in this stage of your life. The emotions are powerfull and will last you the rest of your lives. In regards to the legalities of your situation, proving an insestuous relationship between two consenting adults is nearly impossible as long as you keep it private. Throughout time there have been stories of devoted siblings living with and taking care of eachother in literature and media. You really don't have to shout it from the rooftops even though the temptation to share your love will be as powerfull as the love itself. I am in the same situation and I have almost accomplished a contentedness with it that may last our lifetime.
Good luck
God bless

Hello April,
It was lovely to read your story - that you had found each other. I have two aunts that have lived together all their lives (neither of them having married) and they still live together now at the ages of 70 and 70 something. I really don't think that people look upon them living together as being "wrong". Two sisters that just have not found anyone and have decided to stay together.
So why on earth should it be "wrong" for you and your brother to live together. I think you may even be in an advantageous position insofar as when you are older people tend to look and think "ah how sweet" and don't think that you could or would have a sexual relationship. I think people would look upon it more as being a "companionship". Different story when your in 40's!
I wish you both all the luck in the world and hope that you have a very long and lasting relationship (and there's no reason why you shouldn't!).
I'm happy to see your post on the web site. I know you would probably like some feed back from reunions with gsa feelings from someone your age and not those who still have raging hormones. The younger people always suspect we older folks only want companionship not realizing that sexuality is part of companionship. I don't get too many people in their 70s who write about this as there might not be too many reunions at these ages. I have however been writing for almost 2 years to a man who was despartly in love with a reuntied sister. Our letters back and forth gave him a chance to talk it out with someone who understood and who could convince him that having a sister was wonderful and a life long gift he could keep with no feelings of guilt or shame if he would remember that she is a sister and not try to make her his lover which could have a short time span due to the taboo.
I wish you and your brother many happy years together. Barbara Gonyo "The Forbidden Love, GSA" _________________ The book "The Forbidden Love" is on sale at $15.oo plus mailing.
