Why does no one respond?

I can't help but wonder why I see that 50 or even hundreds of people view posts, yet no one responds or offers words of hope or encouragement or understanding. Why? It's difficult to see and then to respond to someone's "train wreck", especially when we may have experienced something similarly painful, but please, say something.

There seem to be a couple different factions here. Some seem to want to have sexual relationships with their relatives they reunited with and hope that someday society will be OK with it.

I really don't want advice from people with that view. I don't have any advice for them.

Then there are other people that have suffered a lot of hurt from having these relationships and are trying to heal.

I haven't experienced that so I don't know what to say.

I was just trying to deal with these emotions I was having and looking for support. The owner of the message board has been very supportive. She is the only one who responded. I would have liked to have gotten more peoples responses but looking around at other posts with in the last year it seems to be mostly people who have already had sex.

So They probably didn't have any advice on how to deal with these intense emotions without acting out on them, because they did act out.

I am not judging anyone, because I know how it feels, but personally, I have always sensed that acting out on these feelings would ruin my other relationships and also the one with my Aunt.

I think you're misinterpreting the "views" number you're seeing by each thread. It's not the number of people who have viewed the thread, it's the number of times each thread has been displayed. I'm sorry to say that this forum isn't as popular as you think it is. GSA is still very, very obscure.

I don't have much to add myself because I haven't faced GSA, at least not yet. I have at least three half-sisters and will probably meet them someday. I learned of this phenomenon completely by accident. Since then, I've been proceeding with extreme caution.

I came here looking for advice, and I think pretty much everyone else came here for the same reason. Perhaps there just aren't any good answers to our questions.

I met my half-sister for the first time nine days ago, then again a couple of days ago. We can both feel lots of GSA and I'm looking for direction. It looks as if more people on this site are looking for help than are able to offer it...

You're right ...

Sorry I was so quick to judge. I guess it's just hard to see so many people in so much turmoil with no help... but I guess there really is no help, huh? I mean, this thing is really crazy.

Anyway, if I can be of help to anyone --as someone who lived through this and came out the other side in (relatively) one piece-- please let me know.

dont want to give the wrong advice

I tried to do the poll here, but it wont work...the reason i often dont give any advice is because i am really worried i will give the wrong advice, so i leave it to someone who is not as f****d up in the head as i am.
I had a relationship with my brother, but i left him and came back to my husband because he treated me so badly that i just could not stay with him. I realy wish that this was nnot the case. I wish that we were still together. I just cant be treated like that. I am so envious of those who are happy together. You see, when people write that they are so deeply in love, the "right" thing to do would be to tell them to cool down, but i wouldnt cool it down myself, so if i told them that then i would be a hippocrit. so i leve it to someone who will give better rational, level headed advice. I am also so very anti- adoption, alot of people dont like this.

Possible Reasons

I think that it is possible that most of the people helping, have already crossed the line.

People viewing probably have not, but are considering all of their options and ramifications of their actions. Maybe even leaning in one direction or the other and not wanting to hear advice that tells them to do the opposite of what they feel they should do.

Kinda goes back to the old saying "Don't ask if you don't want to know the answer".

i myself didnt learn of gsa untill it was too late ,once you have crossed the line the feelings only intensify .once its all gone too far and out of control wer left fighting to try and keep the relationship we should have had with our loved ones in the first place.my question as many others is how do you go from being lover to sib/mom/dad/ ?

unforturnatly there dosnt seem to be many survivers that have been able to maintain a relatioship in its proper place after crossing the line .
so the qestion is still asked but hope fades.

Hi, I've only recently joined the site. I have received responses to my posts albeit a few. Its already been said I know but I believe that in the past some users have been quick to judge others in this situation and as a consequence other users may be reluctant to offer a response. Sadly, as I've mentioned to Barbara on several occasions now, others have infiltrated the site in pursuit of thrills, this could be another contributing factor as we are not really sure who we are conversing with. I for one wish to engage this issue with a full heart as I have probably lost my sister and my family as a result of GSA and I would hate to see anyone else follow me down the road to destruction but in the same breath as always I wish happiness to those who have been successful, a contradiction in terms to some perhaps. Finally I would just like to say to those like me in pain, posting a topic does seem to help. To those that respond to anyone - thank you as even the briefest of responses helps to ease the pain. Bryon
