Practical Advice Needed

Hi there. I don't really know where to turn and hope someone on this site can help. Obviously being in the type of relationship I am I am unable to talk to the relevant authorities openly..

For anyone who doesn't know my story, I met my birth brother in March of last year. We felt an instant attraction and both fought hard against it but eventually submitted in approx May of last year. I was married at the time but had never really been "in love" with my husband and really only stayed with him for financial reasons. I have three children, who at the time were aged 11, 6 and 4 months. My husband incidentally has never really been actively involved with the raising of these children.

Anyway, to cut a very long story short, my husband found me and my brother in bed together. Nothing was happening but naturally my husband totally flipped and kicked my brother out. Police subsequently became involved as my brother was concerned for my safety and had called them. My ex made jibes at me, saying he would make sure I never saw the children again. He held my baby daughter away from me and wouldn't let me near her, despite the fact that she was crying. The police insisted that one of us left the property, and as I was the easy target, they made it their mission to bully me into going. I eventually left, despite protestations on my part, simply due to the fact that I felt under extreme pressure to do so and had no support within the house. (I should add that I was fostered as a child and have therefore had extensive dealings with Social Services in the past - I have found them to be interfering, manipulators of the truth and totally unhelpful in any way whatsoever). You should therefore understand how distraught I was by the fact that the only option I could think of upon leaving the house was to go straight to Social Services in the hopes that they could help me. How wrong I was ... they listened, told me they would deal with the situation and advised me to seek legal advice, which I duly did. My solicitor was horrified that i had been asked to leave by the police and told me I should have stayed my ground... easy to say... she also told me I had a case against the police should i so wish. My only concern, however, was for the children and their wellbeing.

The point of this message, which I'm sure you're all wondering, is that I have recently had access to my daughter's health visitor records. in these, the health visitor has clearly been influenced by comments made by both my ex-husband and Social Services themselves, who incidentally made no further contact with me after my initial visit to them. They took everything my ex-husband had to say at face value and at no stage tried to get my side of the story. The health visitor has made comments that "I wasn't bothered about the boys" and has basically portrayed me as a callous and inappropriate parent. It also seems that she has passed my daughter's file to child protection in the new area where I am living. This obviously has repurcussions for both me, my brother and my children, as this information, even if nothing comes of it, will be in her file for the rest of her life. I really don't know what to do! My brother is now talking about ending things between us to try and make things better, but neither of us wants to do that! He is the best father you could hope for yet because of society, we may be forced to separate and the only true father my daughter in particular has ever known will be gone from her life forever...

Don't know if anyone has the answer but I hope someone can advise me at least..

thanks for listening..
