Spam on this forum.
Would it be possible to designate one or more people as admins so that all the spam can be deleted in a more timely manner? Allowing it to persist only invites more of it as well as interfering with the forum in general. Someone should be killing the messages, kicking the bogus accounts, and forwarding the offending IP address to the relevant ISP.
Now I realize that all of this takes time and effort and that this may not be possible on a forum that is run as a labor of love. The existence of this forum is definitely appreciated. But if there is SOMETHING that can be done about the spam without it involving too much overhead then please do it before the entire forum becomes one giant spam-fest. |

i second that, if i see one more parasite offering prozac, laminate flooring or a list of useless sites no one cares about I'll scream, how offputting for newbies.
Its like a bunch of flyers landing on your doorstep every morning, they need to go in the bin! |

I totally agree!!
I don't feel I can post while such junk is on this forum. Anything decent I have to say is being mixed up with trash. I hope something can be done about it, before people are totally put off from this site. |

Hello folks,
I have embarked on a mass deleting of spam posts and banning of those offending users. I looked around the config area to see what I might have missed in the settings that might have caused this much trouble here. Turns out I forgot to turn on the user activation feature (ensures a proper working email to post here). That alone was probably the biggest issue because not turning it on allowed the bots to run wild in here with rediculous posts and threads. This has been corrected and I'll be monitoring the forums for the next few days, deleting and banning those that have already signed up before I fixed the problem. Regards, John |
