I CAN HEAR YOU AND YOUR CRITICISMS QUITE CLEARLY. I AM AS FRUSTRATED AS YOU ARE BY THIS NEW DILEMA OF SPAMMERS AND PORN.

I HAVE TOLD YOU THAT I AM NOT A COMPUTER EXPERT AND NEED THE MAN WHO DID THIS SITE TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENTS. HE HAS SHOWED ME A WAY TO ELIMINATE THESE POSTS AND I'M TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH THIS. I ASK FOR YOUR PATIENCE, NOT COMPLAINTS.

I DON'T CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE AND WILL NEVER DO THIS. BUT DUE TO THE COMPLAINTS AND JUNK THAT IS COMING THROUGH I MAY HAVE TO CONSIDER TO REMOVE THE POSTS AND JUST USE THE SITE AS AN INFORMATION SITE FOR THOSE WANTING TO KNOW ABOUT GSA BUT NOT HAVE ANYONE SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES.

I HAD HOPED PEOPLE COULD SHARE WITH EACH OTHER AND HELP EACH OTHER NOT GO TO WAR OVER DIFFERENT OPINIONS. I DON'T FIND WHAT IS HAPPENING SUPPORTIVE BUT CHILDISH. ANYONE IS WELCOME TO START THEIR OWN SITE AT THEIR EXPENSE AND SAY ANYTHING YOU WANT TO EACH OTHER.

I WILL LET YOU KNOW IN A FEW DAYS WHAT MY DECISION IS ABOUT KEEPING THE SITE GOING AS IT SEEMS THAT SOME OF YOU WOULD RATHER SEE IT DISAPPEAR ENTIRELY THAN TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH OUTSIDERS TRYING TO DESTROY IT WHEN ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS NOT READ IT.

Hello folks,

I have embarked on a mass deleting of spam posts and banning of those offending users. I looked around the config area to see what I might have missed in the settings that might have caused this much trouble here. Turns out I forgot to turn on the user activation feature (ensures a proper working email to post here). That alone was probably the biggest issue because not turning it on allowed the bots to run wild in here with rediculous posts and threads.

This has been corrected and I'll be monitoring the forums for the next few days, deleting and banning those that have already signed up before I fixed the problem.

Hi Barbara,

I think maybe everyone's frustration was due to the fact that the spam etc has been occurring for a considerable time, and it seems (maybe incorrectly) that you have only decided to do something about them because someone has posted and asked you to.

Also, I see that there has been no alteration to the size of the GSA heading, despite requests for it to be made more 'discreet.'

I appreciate that the running of this website can be extremely time-consuming, and as you say you don't "charge" and it's at your "own expense" but surely the thanks that you have received in the past from forum users MUST make it so worthwhile.

Also, typing in caps is considered shouting. There's no need Barbara, we hear you too.

I have been reading over lots of messages in here and enjoy reading all of them even ones I do not agree with. I think it is ok for people to disagree but if they are abusive then they should be booted.

Barb - what were you thinking? Replying in "Child State Ego." I think an apology for that would be in order don't you think?

Nobody was critiscising YOU or expecting you to be some computer guru, but comments were made often regarding "spamming" and the site heading, and it was as if they were being ignored or going unnoticed.

Who was going to war? Everyone was just getting cheesed off that nothing was happening, and that GSA and those involved were being treated like a joke. I know for a fact my sister has been recommending this site (because it IS good, it IS informative, it DOES provide support for those in or trying to understand GSA) so that people can try and gain an understanding of the subject without labelling us all as outcasts or weirdos!

My last post (which was deleted) was purely constructive comment that until the problems are resolved the site should be temporarily closed to avoiding smearing the good that this site provides - that's all.

I'm sorry if my remarks about being childish were offensive to anyone. I was talking about fighting that goes on amongst those who have different opinions and want to pick at each other.

I'm not angry at the posters but the spammers and obscene stuff is not what this site is about and I don't want it on here but couldn't get it off. I hope it is now being taken care of. I've had 2 reports now that 2 of the members aren't able to get through.

Also what is this about a request for the heading to be smaller and why?

I'm sorry guys but I'm trying. I have a lot of family stuff going on that is draining me so I ask for your forgiveness and patience in clearing all this up.

Barb, regarding the site heading -

Requests have been made in the "Site Admin" forum for the heading to be not quite so large or presented differently, mainly because if you're trying to look at the site discreetly it makes it very awkward, having to minimise the window very quickly in case someone you don't want to should be nosing at what you are viewing at the time.

The header is now more discrete than before .
