Anyone Else On Here Have A Child...
with their sibling? If so, do you have other children? Do the other children know? Do the child that you have together know?
As I have said in my first post "My Secret Exposed, Thankfully, Finally" I talked about how me and my brother have a 6 year old daugther together and she is noticing similarities between him and her. She doesn't know...yet and I'm not sure when I should tell her. We (me and my brother) agreed to do it when the other died, but that may be 80 years from now and let's face it, she may be gone before we are (forbid   ). So I was just curious to hear other stories about how things have worked out for you and yours. Thank you |

Are you together as a couple now? Or is she being brought up with Dad as her uncle? Either way if he's her uncle, she may look like him and she would have similarities if he was her father. Either way families do look similar, maybe that would be the way to explain it at the age she is.

The Genetic Gene Pool
Hi Rareone,
I have four Children..... When my Youngest Daughter was Born my Husband and I noticed right away, that she looked like a dead ringer for his Youngest sister...In Fact within minutes of her Birth, we were laughing about it... As she Grew the resemblace became even stronger, to such a degree, whenever we went out, all of us..ie my sister in law (with whom we are very close anyway) my husband, and Our Little grl, and I, People always always Believed that my sister in law was her Mother and Not I.... People actually stuggled to come to terms with it....because my daughter is so different to me..... In fact had I not Birthed her, I too could have had my doubts  Last Year , SIS in Law Got married, and My Daughter now 15 was in the Bridal party....The resmebalce between the two is incredible...My Daughter is my sister rin laws "mini me"....Their Hair,Their hands, their feet, which are unusual, are like plaster casts of each others..We have all examined them and commented... from the back they have the same body shape, facial expressions as well as facial features, and even in personality....Consequently my Daughter and my SIL are very close.... Its become something that our family finds very endearing.... Further more..I have two sons...My Husband and I are both under 173 cms...so too the rest of his family... but our two sons are a mammoth 184cms...at Family Gatherings they tower over everyone...."everyone " Again...its always been a family joke that I slept with the Milkman....( pretty sure I didnt )...anyway...this year on making contact with my h/b I find that he is also 184cm, and the lower part of his face, his smile, is ecactly the same as my eldest Sons... So my Point....? Sometimes the Genetic Gene Pool is lke that ! Its not at all unusual for once removed family members to bear a striking resemblance, so.....For what its worth..... ! ! ! R E L A X...If I were you, Id start making it known that your daughter looks so much like your brother myself...before other family members or people notice or comment....Use it as a way of introducing the subject of genetics to your daughter..get techinical if you wnat..she will no doubt find it interesting, even at 6 she can begin to learn about it... and Marvel yourself at the mystery of G E N E T I C S ! .

I haven't been on here for a while but really need some kind of constructive advice now. My f/b and I have been together for almost two years now but I am becoming ever more conscious that he would love a child of his own. Is there anyone here who has been in this situation and could advise me? I am obviously concerned not only about the possibility of genetic problems but also about the emotional impact on the child. Any advice would be gratefully received.

We have a daughter.
I have a daughter with bonnie(my h/s). She lives with Bonnie while I have been 2300 miles away after our family shipped me off to another state 22 years ago (they leaned on me heavily and I was young). She asked Bonnie about her bio dad quite a few years ago, but wasn't interested in meeting me until she had a son. We got along ok after that. She is now the first in the family to know that Bonnie and I are getting back together again. That didn't go well. I will always have a place in my heart for her. And she and my grandchildren will always be welcome where ever we are.
One down. Three daughters to go (me 1, her 2), to be followed by a large family. Only now Bonnie and I are adults and don't need their approval. There is a big world out there. We will find a place in it.

Hello Rareone,
My nephew and I, who have been together for over ten years now, have a beautiful, healthy daughter together. I have two grown daughters from a failed first marriage - both girls are a couple of years younger than my nephew. They both know about my relationship with my nephew, as do my mother, and my sister, my nephew's mother. When news of my affair with my nephew broke - it was my two daughters who told my mother they were suspecting us - both my mother and sister turned their backs on us. In a way I think it made my nephew's move into our house just that much easier. My two daughters were extremely unhappy with this arrangement, but being underaged at the time, had no alternative but to accept the situation. My pregnancy by my nephew drew the final wedge between my daughters and I, and a few years later, when the elder of the two became of age, both of my daughters left home. My baby daughter by my nephew will be turning ten this year, and does not know that her father is my sister's son. My nephew and I - I really should stop calling him my nephew, for even though we are not married, I think of him as my husband, for he fathered my child, and if it wasn't for the restrictions we have imposed on us, we'd have gotten married along time ago - are hope ful of telling our little girl one day when she is grown up. So Rareone, I believe you have nothing to be ashamed of, and one day, when your child is a bit older, it might be the right thing to tell her. Lots of love. Sandra |
