Unhappy is there nothing we can do?

i've been thinking a lot lately. my sister and i have been attempting to work together and hold off on our feelings for the next month but we've been bringing up our situation to our sisters, hypothetically, and they all shot it down. i first tried with my second closest sister and she pretty much told me she would never speak to me again I know that her feelings are based off of the modern stereo type that people such as brother and sister, or in our case, half brother and sister, should not be together, but it's so unfair. i love my hsister and there's nothing i can do to change that. I'm extremely happy just being close to her, no sexual relations needed, but i know that im in love. Is there nothing we can do to lighten the blow to ignorance directed towards this idea of GSA. I think i speak for many, if not all of us, when i say that we need to do something about the criticism. I know that some people here arespeaking of past relations but for those in the current relationships, can something be done? We want to be together but it's really hard and we don't want our families to shun us for our emotions that cannot be helped. anyone have any idea? I'm a very optimistic person and saying something is impossible is the last thing you will ever hear from me...but in this case im scared to think that there is but no other choice...please help me...somebody...

What will you give up?

I feel for you, I really do. You're in the same boat as the rest of us.

You're in the same boat as millions of people in the U.S. just sixty years ago who decided that the love of their life was someone whose skin was a different color than their own.

The same boat as tens of millions who have decided that the love of their life is someone of the same gender as themselves.

Laws against mixed-race marriages and homosexual unions are as old as ignorance and fear and hatred, but gradually they are crumbling.

Consider that until the 1950s, in over thirty states in this "Land of the Free", it was a crime for a white person to marry a black, Asian, Filipino or American Indian. Consider also that it was only recently that the Supreme Court ruled that adults have the right to private, consensual sexual activity.

Laws may crumble, but social taboos die hard. Your family is the product of their culture, so if they find it impossible to accept your love for your sister, it's really not their fault. It is, however, their loss if their obduracy results in you and your sister disappearing from their lives.

But the big question is one that ultimately you have to answer: what are you willing to give up in order to be with your sister?

It's a question that I have agonized over, but my final answer is a simple one.

Everything.

If this isn't your answer, then maybe you should re-think your position.

thank you for your incite. i do understand what your saying. i feel that if they're my family then they should support me no matter what...but i guess not. and i've known what i would give for her since the first time i talked to her. i am willing to give everything to be happy with the love of my life and that should be all that matters to my loved ones...but we havn't told anyone yet so i can't be too sure what exactly they'll think...

Blood....friends....nothing guarantees that the people you expect to love you for who and what you are, will. Feel blessed by those who do love you in this way, and recognize that the ones who don't, don't deserve your own "nurturuing" of your relationship with them. It's odd, but being an "outcaste" as we all are, helps us find those who truly love us unconditionally. I pitty the normal people, for they truly have no idea who their real and true friends are.
