Today is a bad day
Hi Kelli,
I'm sorry for your pain. Wouldn't it be nice if every day was a good one? But in this life we are born into all types of situation that are not always of our own making. That doesn't make the problem easier to deal with and most of the time it makes it more difficult. Adoptees or children of divorce can say," I didn't ask for them to give me up or to divorce so why must I go by the rules?" As I say separtion causes other problems even though we think it will solve the immediate problem. There will be many sad days and bad days and longing days but with time and leaning on someone bigger than ourselves we can get through the bad days and find life has it's rewards if we stay on the right path. It is not always want we want to do but in the long run, there are rewards for working through the painful times. I say this because I've been there not because I want to give advice. My life has been one long challenge. My mistakes have been of my own making and of those who were responsible for making decisions on my behalf. That road was long and treacherous in many ways but I made it. I'm here and keeping my head above water. My life is still not running perfectly smooth but I've overcome so many obstacles and like where I am. I learned so much about coping and relying on God to take care of my problems that I seem to have no control over. I can remember when I felt so helpless due to a problem with my daugther who was an addict. I could not do anything to help her and I felt desparate. I was in my car on the way to and Adoption Support group meeting that I lead. I had the radio on but turned it off for silence. I started to pray while driving and told God that I couldn't do this anymore and I was turning her over to Him. I can't tell you the relief I felt knowing that I would no longer feel responsible for her healing. It was shortly after that she gave up drugs and has been in recovery for 7 years. I know that may sound silly to some people but others will know what I feel. I hope for you Kelli that you can find peace with your struggles and know that you are not alone and you can get through anything if you let go of your need to control all matters of the heart. I wish you well and hope you will have many good days and few or none of the bad ones. You are in my prayers. Barb G
